2nd Solid Symposium
2-3 May 2024, Leuven

Solid for Health Care

Welcome

Solid experts will not only learn about potential applications in the healthcare industry during this session. As with the first Solid Symposium, this session is designed for non-Solid experts interested in the application of decentralized data storage solutions in the healthcare field.

It is an ideal opportunity to bring together recent research about descentralized data structures in healthcare in general, and solid applications in particular. Latest research results and use cases from academia and industry will be presented. Data management for genomic information, machine-learning applications, and digital twins are examples of these applications.

Posters

Posters about Solid applications in health care are welcome. Please visit the Symposium's poster session for more details

Day 2

The Virus Outbreak Data Network, VODAN

The Virus Outbreak Data Network (VODAN) is a collective of researchers, health practitioners and decision-makers in health who use semantically annotated machine actionable data for the recording of Patient Health records, to improve services at point of care, resolve issue of bias in health AI tooling by focusing on the generation of secure data held in residence and with high granularity and diversity including from poorly connected geographies. The data architecture allows for de-novo FAIR data production with data-ownership where data is created with local regulatory compliance (OLR). The architecture provides an ethical and sustainable framework for interoperability and re-use with third party customers invited to the data based on federated decision and value addition offering to the facilities that produce the data.

In this session we will introduce the VODAN architecture using real- world use cases, and discuss ideas to extend the architecture to further incorporate aspects from the Solid philosophy.

Solid Pods from the Health Digital Twins Perspective

      Gökhan Ertaylan & Frederik Jung

In recent years, the concept of digital twins has emerged as a powerful paradigm in healthcare, offering a transformative approach to personalized medicine, remote patient monitoring, and healthcare innovation. At the intersection of digital twin technology and Solid Pods lies a realm of immense potential for revolutionizing healthcare delivery and patient empowerment. Moreover, this presentation showcases a live demonstration illustrating the potential integration of Solid Pods within the health digital twins framework.
